What is a WEBP file?
WEBP is an image format created by Google in 2010 to make web pages load faster. Websites serve it because it is smaller than JPG, so an image you save from a browser often arrives as .webp even when it looked like an ordinary photo on the page.
Why convert WEBP to JPG
Older photo editors, some print shops, and many upload forms still reject WEBP. JPG is accepted almost everywhere, so converting lets you edit, print or post the picture without hunting for special software.
How to convert WEBP to JPG
- Drop the WEBP images you saved onto the box above.
- Leave the quality on High unless you need a smaller file.
- Press Convert to JPG and download each image or the whole zip.
Nothing is uploaded. The conversion runs inside your own browser, so your files never touch a server and there is no queue, no size cap and no sign up.
WEBP to JPG questions
Why do images I save from websites turn into WEBP?
The website chose to send WEBP because it loads faster. Your browser simply saves the file in the format it received.
What if my WEBP has a transparent background?
Transparent areas become white in the JPG. Use WEBP to PNG instead if you need to keep the transparency.
Does it work with animated WEBP?
It converts the first frame into a still JPG. A JPG cannot hold animation.
